cheer is sugar-coated muffin

just back from cheer chen's "a piece of summer" concert at singapore expo!

and as the title of my post says, yes, she and the concert is like a sugar-coated muffin... may i add that it is carrot cake flavour (the english type) which i love?

the venue looked shrunk when we arrived... seriously, the last time i was there for mayday's jump concert, they made use of all the seats, but for cheer's they only used 2 main portions... which i believe only took about no more than 3,500 audience...

unlike the usual pop concerts i have been that will play the singer/band's music as background music before the start, the choice at cheer's was english songs with strong rock feel and guitar drifts... and it was only when they played "voodoo child" that i realised it had to do with one of the following: -
a) they are her all-time favourite guitarists
b) they are legendary guitarists and like her, known to feel most at ease with their instruments
c) both of the above

the crowd is really a fair share of male and female, which i always believe shows just how talented and recognised the musician is... most dont wear official fan t-shirt, bring lite stixs, or scream loudly... but the rather lukewarm behaviour in the beginning that got me quite worried actually gained momentum gradually through the concert...

of cos as a fervant fan of cheer, i had to do very groupie things with my friends... like actually having lite stixs and using them 80% of the time... screamed loudly into the air and into the ears of other fans... hopped out onto the empty space next to our seats and did groupie standard action of rocking body to and fro and swinging lite stix with gusto... stood up when our view was blocked... and with no apologies, stood on chairs when the occasion arose...

cheer sang a mixture of new songs, a few of which i am not exactly familiar with, and the older "classic" like 和你在一起, 让我想一想, 还是会寂寞，躺在你的衣柜... i might do a list of the songs she sang when i am in a clearer mind of state.... i mean, clearer state of mind... no explanation needed now...

cheer is someone whom i cannot think of anyone who wouldnt like her, guys and gals alike... as i watched the close-up of her singing, i can only feel showered with icing with every depression of her dimples... she looked so sweet that i think every other guy would have fell in love with her by the second song... as for me, i had wished to be transformed into her that very instant...

her voice is surprisingly strong at points despite having a very child-like sweet voice... her performance of "sentimental kills" however did not shine as much as being a very "rock" number, she could not really made up the vocal demand with her rather rather "attitude" mannerism...

but what we cannot deny is her guitar prowess... she is really one of the those who really can play a mean guitar... also included are tanya chua and hmmm... penny tai? i think she wow-ed some guys in the audience when close-up on her fingering was shown... her boyfriend, xiaohu, also displayed a mean solo during an interval which basically told us, similar attracts... which then brings me to mention that the keyboardist - 陈建骐 is cute~

the ultimate part of the concert was that there was a total of.... 4 ENCORES!!! i mean, hello? even mayday dont do that... not that they really need to, cos we had extended the concert to supper... hahhaa... but back to cheer... it was like quite funny loh... after 3rd encore, my frens and i were making our way out till we heard screams!!! then very quickly finding the shortest short-cut... we made our way back to middle of the hall, found the best chairs and stood on them... hahahaa... so... we didnt miss any of the 4 encores.... HAHAHAHHAAAAA~~~~~

the night left me warm, sweet and feeling like a little cuddly (am not sure why... hahaha....), but the fact is that it was a concert with substance, fun, participation (the encore part is enough, man!) just like having enjoyed a sugar-coated muffin... and like i had mentioned, carrot cake flavoured... a little spicy too =)

she also sang her version of faith yang's 证据 which i suppose is titled 说你爱我 cos that is what she kept repeating in the chorus :O there was another old song that she has not recorded in any of her album which i also cannot rem the title :P
